superbly illustrated ideas source book
Hundreds of beautiful photos illustrating all aspects of home design. A great source book for stimulating ideas on how to improve your own house, with practical design advice and a decent listing of suppliers. A bit biased towards exotic and/or large spaces but your grasp should always exceed your reach . . . .
Stunning photos, slightly uninspiring text...
The Essential House book is packed full of photos of the most gorgeous rooms in the world. The ideas it depicts would be very useful if you were re-decorating your house, although they are obviously mostly very contemporary, and minimalist at times. The text is interesting, analysing how each room works for different purposes, and this is fascinating to read for a while. The trouble is, this is a long book, and the mechanical style can become a bit tiresome. Definitely worth a look for design fans, and nearly as much of a bible as the original House Book!
