SPSS simplified!
Don't be put off by the title of this book if you are a non-psychologist. And don't be put off if you are a psychologist. If you need to learn SPSS from scratch quickly then this is the best book around. It teaches by example and the step-by-step explanations are remarkably easy to understand. I first learnt SPSS using the first edition of this book. Since then I have read several others. Now in its 3rd edition this one is still the best.
making things simple
This is an excellent choice for the student who likes psychology but can't hack stats. Procedures, terminology etc are explained about as clearly as is possible. This of course means that some parts will be a bit over-simplified, but you can't please all of the people all of the time and this is foremost a practical book for SPSS users. The only real drawback is that the index is a bit incomplete, leaving you in the dark if you want to check what a Levene's is in a hurry. Apart from this a breath of fresh air in an field beset by books by boffins for boffins.
Easy to use and understand
This is a great book for students just learning about SPSS as well as assistants or psychologists who want to re-familiarise themselves with the basics. The layout is simple and the authors cover everything from an overview of basic experimental designs to how to input, handle and analyse data using all the basic tests. The writing style is clear and easy to understand - even if you're a beginner. I would definitely recommend it!
