Customer Reviews
Great idea but...
Either not many places in Britain allow dogs or this guide just doesn't have enough information. Some areas are well covered but some have pitifully few entries (London in particular). Also many of the hotels listed say dogs are allowed in bedrooms only but must be accompanied at all times. How are you supposed to make that work? Hardly any B&Bs are listed
Good guides are generally excellent and this is a great idea but just needs to be more comprehensive.
Good Guide to Dog Friendly Pubs, Hotels, and B&B's
I have to concur with other reviewers: this book isn't very comprehensive.
I purchased it prior to taking my dogs on our holiday to Cornwall, and thought that there would surely be a wealth of information to help me find new dog-friendly places. But, the truth is that I personally knew of many more places than were listed in this book. Plus, some of the listings were slightly dubious, and some others were downright incorrect!
Out of interest, I looked for pubs local to where I live, and found that none were listed. I live in a large countryside area popular with tourists... yet there were no listings for this area... none even remotely close!
My best advice regarding this book would be to forget about buying it, and instead email a few hotels in the area that you are visiting. Then you will have a definitive answer regarding the dog friendliness of an establishment.
Dog friendly pubs
A useful book, but I feel that many pubs have been omitted, as in my area (New Forest} I know of 5 dog friendly pubs within a 6 mile radius, but none are included .... for whatever reason!
