Review
'Spook-spotters will now be able to plan their next holiday... Stately Ghosts regales readers with murderous tales of resident benevolent spirits and aggrieved poltergeists.' --The Observer (28 Oct 2007)
'Stately Ghosts gives a sensible historic overview, and then indulges in a tongue-in-cheek dose of anecdotes covering myths, legends and goose-bump-inducing events... All the buildings are pictured beautifully.' --Gaby Soutar, The Scotsman (27 Oct 2007)

A haunted coffee-table book
From what I've seen of the usual VisitBritain titles, this is a welcome step away from the norm as they explore some of the UKs most gorgeous castles, manors and halls. The ghostly stories and anecdotes that have naturally accumulated in these places of deep history are presented gorgeously and not in so much detail that the skeptic will be turned off - it merely appears to serve its purpose of whetting my apetite and wanting to see the castles for myself. :-)
Good content, poor design...
Really interesting content, with several stories that I had never come across, but why is the type printed in silver? It makes it nigh impossible to read sitting by a window, and I end up having to hold the book at an angle... Second edition in black, please?
