A toe-tapping trip down memory lane
This DVD took me right back to my teens!
Hugely entertaining, often hilarious (check out the Rick Astley video!) and wonderfully nostalgic. What's more, most of the artists have all but disappeared since (the DVD has no Madonna or George Michael tracks, for example), making this a real time capsule.
Highly recommended for people who, like me, were teenagers in the 80s.
Great fun for all 80's pop fans
This is an excellent purchase if you love 80's pop music. The DVD contains the videos to some of the best songs from many popular 80's artists including several number 1 hits. Highlights include Cyndi Lauper "Girls just to want to have fun", Kim Wilde "Kids in America", Genesis "Land of confusion", Paula Abdul "Opposites attract" & Soul II Soul "Back to life". Baltimora's dated "Tarzan Boy" is a disappointing choice for the compilation, but you do get a chance to own Cliff Richard's rollerskating performance in "Wired for sound". There are many other enjoyable nostalgic moments here and the good selection of classic hits makes this ideal for a house party.
The 80s remembered
For the full track list see the main Amazon listing.
This DVD made me realise that I've left the 80s firmly behind. Even some of songs I was looking forward to hearing I ended up fastforwarding.
The DVD has the original music videos for 25 hits from the 80s. The songs tend to cover the mid to late 80s. There's a variety of styles Reggae, Pop, etc. so it is unlikely that any one viewer will like all the tracks. As a comment on the times it's brilliant:
You get a sense of fashion then (especially in Girls Just Want To Have Fun), remember that politics was something that once had popular appeal (see Land of Confusion where Genesis tied up with Spitting Image) and be realise that the walkman craze was so large that it motivated a star to write about it (see Wired for Sound).
If you really love 80s music and/or want to reminisce about that period get it. However, if you're unsure, think carefully first.
