Gives a reason to drinking, smoking and living in a bookshop5
Having been a pious fan now of this series since its first appearence on channel 4 in 2000 and remembering Tamzin Grieg's performence in the 'Archers' and Bill Bailey's genius on 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' and not to mention his live shows, I was compelled to watch this masterpiece of mayhem, witty depression and in Bernards case, humanity loathing and drink idolising 'This is fantastic'. The fevered bumbling, involving parents, worm costumes, 1984 style rival book shop owners (Goliath Books)(look out for the chap from Spaced) and Polar bear liquor-has the receipe for absolute comedy platinum that in my case, has never failed to impress me, causing frantic bursts of laughter and alot of side splitting. While some prefer one series or anouther I think its certainly safe to say that the whole creation is one volley after the other of intelligent- if excentric and drunken- instant hilarity. Dylan Moran has a rare talent for acting and script writing with his cohorts and thus Series 3 is yet anouther insight into the murky world of Bernard Black, Fran Katzenjammer (German for hangover) and Manny Bianco (White- get it...) his only two friends and their distorted but wonderful lives. Be wise and gather the whole collection unto yourself, its money well spent, and will encourage more series to be made. You have a duty... to yourself and anyone with a shard of humour.

The final chapters5
Black Books had everything. Hilarious, heart-warming, quirky characters you couldn't help but love. Bizzsre sub plots and situations that would always result in a great wave of laughter, such as the assassination of Mr Benson the cat, Manny and Bernard's childrens book, Manny working at a rivalling book store and the three friends endulging in a dancing competition. There are many classic moments, quotes and episodes that determine, this the third and final series of the acclaimed sitcom which superglue BLACK BOOKS ranking as one of the best comedies every produced. Fantastically funny stuff.

Best Sitcom Ever5
Want something totally different and outrageously funny? You've got to watch Black Books. Totally different to the schmalzy American crap, with genius scriptwriting and perfect comic timing between the three main actors. Not as gross as Two Pints of Lager, and not reliant on one-liners like Seinfeld this sitcom is totally original. Even though it's set in a shop (like Open All Hours) with a horrible boss (The Office), is based on the antics of friends and their drinking habits (Coupling) with elements of the surreal (Spaced) Black Books manages to be different from all of these in a totally unique way that catches you off guard and leave you giggling so hard that your Merlot seeps between your teeth and onto the floor.
