Lovely starter book
I'd learned chords but was struggling with barre chords. I could pick little riffs and understood tab, but I'd plateaued with my learning for a good year. I'd never learned to read music and in a book shop I cam across this for a fiver and thought it looked obscure enough to possibly work. And it does! You do have to concentrate hard, and keep going over the exercises, but each time the penny eventually drops.
My wife who learned Clarinet at school and played in an orchestra thinks I'm coming along wonderfully!
A word of warning - it's not for kids! This is a book for those people who are good at learning stuff on their own and have patience and problem solving strategies. If you are a 'me, here, now' person then don't buy it - go and get a teacher. I am a teacher (of English) and this is perfect for me as it is structured to keep the learning curve at a good pace throughout.
For a first book, you won't find better!
guitarist's way
my little girl loved this book, she thinks she can play the guitar much better now
Good little book for beginners
Easy to follow guide for beginners.
I just wish there were a couple of points a bit clearer regarding the position of the left hand fingers on frets.
