Customer Reviews
Decent Enough At A Very Reasonable Price
On the good side there are lots of questions in this book (4000) and it's handy that the answers are below each questions. The book is split into 40 rounds of 100 general knowledge questions.
On the downside the questions are quite repetitive. Each round seems to have similar questions.
The questions in general are quite tricky - this could be a good or bad thing depending on what you want the book for. The fact that the rounds are all general knowledge rather than categories again could be good or bad again depending on what you want the book for.
Overall a decent enough, if not slightly flawed, book at a very reasonable price.
Not 'Perfect for family fun'
The cover describes this as 'perfect for family fun'. I suppose that depends on your family! Our family of 3 kids between 5-12 and bright and worldly parents found this virtually impossible. I'm not sure of the precise target audience, but it would need to be at least 50 years old and all of similar ability.
Cheap and not so cheerful.
A bargain with problems
On the plus side, at this price the book is a bargain. There's no trick: it's a proper book, with 4000 questions and over 250 pages. As far as I can tell the questions are in random order, which I like.
The downsides are (a) I found the questions difficult. I'm old and good at general knowledge - usually - but many of these questions were arbitrarily difficult, obscure facts plucked at random from some source, and (b) the answers are immediately after each question, which makes it very difficult if you're reading it and testing yourself.
I think with a good quiz question, if you don't know the answer, you should often be kicking yourself when you hear it, or at least groan. That didn't happen here.
Still, at this price, why not?
