The pan has a heavy-gauge aluminium core base encapsulated in 18/10 polished stainless steel for exceptional durability and superior heat distribution. No more hot spots on the stainless steel surface that burn food. The ergonomically designed, cast stainless steel handles are riveted to the cookware to give them superior sturdiness and are oven safe up to 500 degrees F. The lid is also 18/10 polished stainless steel. This Jamie Oliver saucepan is dishwasher safe.

Simply the best (almost)
I dont understand the other review here. These are superb pans. The handle on ours NEVER gets hot (I guess it might in the oven but havent tried that and a plastic handle wouldnt go in there in the first place) and there are no sharp edges. Quality of build is perfect. These pans work great on an electric hob because they heat up far quicker than many others we have tried.

Only (very) slight niggle is that I prefer glass lids so I can see what is going on. Not a big problem though, and a price well worth paying to get something this good.

Disappointing
The Jamie Oliver professional series look great on the box, lovely shape, nice weight - very promising. However the reality of using one is a big disappointment. The handles of both the saucepan and the lid become too hot to touch when cooking. And the lip of the pan is uncomfortably sharp to the touch. My dull, old pans from John Lewis have finished edges that don't hurt when you touch them, and handles that don't heat up. You won't be reaching for your Jamie Oliver pans on an everyday basis.

excellent wedding gift
...we got this recently, and i use it daily - doesn't get hot, is superb to clean - looks great
