Album Description
Any Minute Now is the new studio album produced by Flood and mixed by Alan Moulder. Soulwax are now internationally renowned not only as a rock band but also as their 2 Many DJ's personas. The album includes the "Any Minute Now" single and also includes "NY Excuse", a hugely talked-about record on the cutting edge of clubland featuring Nancy of LCD Soundsystem's vocals.
CD Description
The Belgian slacker-rock act's follow up to 1999's 'Much Against Everyone's Advice'. After spending 2000-2003 working on their '2 Many DJ's' project to create the bootleg remix sound of 2002, brothers Stephen and David Dewaele reconvened Soulwax to create this album of tight polished positive indierock. Taking on influences from Weezer to Pavement with a touch of electronica.
Customer Reviews
A veryveryveryvery good album.
When i first heard Soulwax on MTV , i just knew i HAD to buy their album. So i bought it.And i wasnt dissapointed . This punk-filled electronica-packed piece of moody music is probably one of the most original albums i have ever heard . Opening up with the scorching bassline of E Talking and the electronic madness of Any Minute Now , this LP is packed with jaw-droppingly good tracks like the ear-pearcing KracK , the depressing Slowdance , the catchy NY Excuse and the beautiful The Truth is so Boring. A wonderful album which i recommend to all lovers of both electronics and rock music!
Belgian Bliss
I was lucky enough to see Soulwax -live- recently, and it was the best gig I've ever been to by a mile.
Naturally I had to buy the album because I couldn't quite comprehend how they had made me want to dance like a lunatic.
I cranked up the amp and boy, I wasn't disappointed by this offering.
It's one you'll want to play again and again. As long as your stereo is up to the challenge, that is.
Their sound is so different and pioneering and Stephen Dewaele's vocals are simple, sometimes repetitive, but you wouldn't want it any other way, trust me.
Track 7 will realy catch you by surprise as it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the album, it's a soft , moving ballad that always "gets" me.
But the standout tracks are "Compute" - play it to your friends and they won't stop humming it for the rest of the day. Very catchy and energising. "NY Excuse" features Nancy Whang from LCD Soundsystem and the up and coming DFA label and it's a cracker! Recently released as a single. Very funky electro beat and crazy vocals!
To be brutally honest, there are no weak tracks on this, and the ones that you may not like so much on first listen you will probably end up liking a lot! I like this so much that I couldn't help buying the back catalogue and it makes me think Soulwax is Belgium's best kept secret. If I see that they are playing another gig I would not hesitate to go again!
I really don't want to sit here raving on about how good this album is, so instead I'm going off to listen to it now! Enjoy!
Any minute Now,
Well I've been waiting for this album for a very long time! When I finally got a copy I was instantly in ectasy over the artwork used throuout the inlay and covers. However having read a lot of mixed reviews about this album (mostly bad) I was slightly nervous. All I can say is that the people who reviewed this album badly must have had there head so far up their arses they were unable to hear it properly. This album Is a truimph, a 100% original album and extremely conceptish. Nothing like MAEA, which is good, I like a band that keep you guessing! If you like Soulwax then get this Album, give it 3 or 4 listens, and you'll realise just how good this album is! If you don't like Soulwax, buy this album, give it 3 or 4 listens and you'll realise just how good this album is!!
