The famous Royal Scot train included with this set is representative of the famous London to Scotland service of the late 40s / early 50s and was a rival to the Flying Scotsman which ran on the East Coast Mainline.The awesome power of the full size Duchess locomotive is ably replicated by the model in the set which is powered by a 5 pole skew wound motor housed underneath the locomotive s body, with the superb liveries on both the locomotive and the four coaches being representative of the period.The Royal Scot set includes a large oval of track with two sidings and a station which fits easily onto the Hornby TrakMat.Additional Hornby Track and Accessory Packs (see page 133) will complete the main infrastructure of the TrakMat leaving any additional details for the operator to complete.The City of Bristol locomotive is DCC Ready. You cannot beat Hornby Train Sets!
I bought this Hornby Royal Scot Train Set for my Grand Nephew who was Ten in January. He is thrilled with it and he and his younger brother( who has another Hornby Train Set) enjoy watching these beautiful collectables. They are very careful of all their toys and hopefully will add to these sets and learn much about the great Steam Railways over the next few years.

Value for money
Bought this item as a present for Christmas and was pleased as to how much I saved buy buying off of Amazon.
Got to admitt that this isn't an educational toy, but a must for any collector. For what you pay, you get quite alot of items for your money....Beautiful engine, four coaches, track mat, station building and a good track layout.
For an avid train collector or anyone wanting value for money, this is a must.

I will definitely buy more of these Horby train sets when they become available at these prices.
