A MUST Buy!
At this price for performances this good, this is THE Sibelius bargain. Colin Davis is one of the best interpreters of Sibelius around today and this cycle is his most recent (mostly from the mid-90's) with the LSO in generally excellent digital sound.

If you only make one Sibelius purchase make sure it is this one as it contains all the symphonies in near definitive interpretations and much of the other orchestral repertoire (Kullervo, Oceanides, Lemminkainen, Karelia, Finlandia and much more).

Almost Perfect
I only really came to appreciate Sibelius in the last couple of years, travelling through time from Beethoven, Schumann, and Brahms; I'm glad to have taken the trouble.

Although I find something a little sterile about some aspects of the performances of some parts of this bargain box, I guess that Sir Colin Davis is allowed to relax a little on this umpteenth traversal of Sibelius's orchestral music.

The RCA sound quality is just fine and I agree with the other reviewers that this set would make a great choice for Sibelius beginners; it certainly proved to be so for me!

Superb Sibelius set at Discount Price!!
I can't really fault this collection of Sibelius's orchestral music.
For a miniscule price you are introduced to over seven hours of this most engaging, highly individual music. Conducted with great passion and feeling and superbly performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.
Slightly disappointing that the marvellous Violin Concerto is missing, but that may have bumped the price up a bit! And the text for 'Kullervo' would have been a nice addition.
Ideal set for those starting out on the Sibelius journey...
