Under tile heating cable mats are the most popular choice for larger areas; the mats are available in 2 outputs, 150 w/sqm for internal rooms and 200 w/sqm for conservatories to compensate for the higher heat losses. If youre installing the underfloor heating into a conservatory then we strongly recommend the 200w/sqm and tile backer boards, 10mm is the most common size. If your unsure of how to work out what size mat you need simply times the length of the room by the width e.g. 3m x 3.5m = 10.50sqm minus 10% = 9.45sqm round it down and a WFSM1350 9sqm will fit in at 150w per sqm or if it is a conservatory WFCM1800 9sqm. The most important thing to remember is always select an under tile mat which is at least 10% smaller than the free floor area of the room because you cannot cut a cable down and having less cable is better in this situation.Standard under tile heating Cable Mat (150 watts per sqm) - recommended for all internal rooms will give approximately 130 watts per sqm at 85% room coverage. Conservatory under Tile Heating Cable Mat (200 watts per sqm) - suitable for conservatories with concrete floors and rooms with high heat loss - provides a faster warm up time. Will give you an average of 170 watts per sqm with 85% floor coverage.
