Built-in Auto Photo Fix II technology with Red-Eye Removal and Multi-zone Exposure Correction is perfect for your home photo lab as it automatically fixes your photos at the printer, giving you flawless results without the need for a computer.

Red-eye occurs when using a photographic flash very close to the camera lens (as with most compact cameras) in ambient low light. Excellent Multifunction Printer that DOES work with OSX 10.6..
After my old HP printer started to die I looked around for are replacement; but I had a specific requirement. I have a Windows 7 desktop PC and a Macbook with OSX10.6 (Snow Leopard) and I wanted a device that I could print and scan independently from both computers, preferably using my wireless network. I found the MP560, it looked exactly what I was looking for.

Installing (Windows - 5/5, Mac OSX10.6 - 2/5)
After unpacking and installing the printer head and cartridges (easy), I set about connecting to my secured (WPA2 with Mac address filtering) wireless network. The WPA2 part was easy, but I add to dig into the printer settings to find its mac address before I could update my access point. Once that was done I ran through the setup and it connected perfecting well.

The windows installation from the CD was fine, again following the clear user manual and onscreen prompts.
The Mac installation was not so fine. Everything looked ok until printer registration (via the network of course) and OSX failed to find it. I suspect a few people will find this as the CD software is not the latest version and does not support 10.6. However a search on the Canon support found the software (you need the CUPS driver for printing and the ica driver for scanning). Once quickly installed (note: just complete the rest of the setup first then install these 2 drivers after), I could then add the printer and scanning using the normal System Preferences method. After that printing and scanning were fine.
So, far from perfect but at least there is an answer.

Usage (4/5)
The MP560 is a smart looking printer scanner and the flip-up LCD display and wheel navigator are a breeze to use. A4(or letter) paper load underneath so you can close everything up when you're not using it, and not have to leave paper sticking out. I like this feature as my cat walks over everything!
Scanning is fine; don't expect perfection, but for home use you won't have any complaints.
Printing is quick and the results (especially photo-printing on the glossy photo-paper) are exceptional. One thing, you have to load photo paper at the back.
The paper trays feel a little flimsy though, and the rear load does increase the desktop footprint a little (it's not a lot though).

All in all, this is a great printer and I'm glad I purchased it. Mac OSX10.6 owners will have to do a little more work to get the printer working, but it's not unsolvable.

Perfect !!
I bought this printer to replace my aging Epson Photo 870 and Canon n1220U Scanner. Wow so far i am really impressed. The photo quality is excellent although at first i was worried about how long the ink would last so far i am very happy, Have printed about 30 6X4 Prints and ink still showing full. A4 paper is stored nice and tidy in a tray underneath which slides out, prints both sides!, Scanner is very fast compared to my old Canon and with one press you can use it as a photocopier, Very useful. I had no trouble setting up wifi very straight forward. Works very well from all my Pc`s scattered around the house. Overall i have no hesitation recommending this product.

excellent
I bought this printer for my mum as she uses a laptop. The set up, although not for the faint hearted, worked on the second attempt and it has connected automatically ever since. The print quality is amazing! As I used to work as a professional photographic printer and in reprographics and I was stunned that it was real photo quality. I would recommend this printer to anyone.
