Lovely but the maps could be better!4
This is a lovely book to look at, flick through and read, as one expects from Eyewitness guides, but so far (and I don't go to Japan for a few months yet) I'm disappointed by the maps of Tokyo, which are not as clear as they might be, the pages of which are not contiguous with one another, and which aren't instantly findable within the book.

beautiful guide and lovely reminder 5
This sumptious guide book gives you glorious photographs of Japan combined with excellent information which makes this an indispensable guide book to use whilst travelling in Japan. If you like a visual guide and to be able to see what places look like then this is the guide for you. I would use it in conjunction with another guide, but you could manage to go to Japan with this guide alone. The maps aren't bad and are all in colour. Some of the places it suggests to visit don't get mentioned in other guides and of course within each section advice on shopping, eating, etc. At the back it gives you advice on money, travel, first aid, hotels. It is well laid out but if you are backpacking I would probably choose a lonely planet or rough guide. All in all a very useful guide It also gives you a beautiful reminder of your trip. I used this constantly whilst in Japan.

japan (DK eyewitness Travel Guide)5
I have tried a few guide books ,but this was the first time I had used eyewitness travel and would I use another YES I WOULD it was easy to use and not many pages to look up where you wanted to go.
