Customer Reviews

So-so........... as long as u don't take it too seriously2
I bought this book for my 1st trip to HK (about 2 weeks ago). I found it great at 1st that it comes with a pull-out map but realise after; everywhere I go there were maps provided for including the hotel+tubes! The eating places suggested were over-rated and some of the local eats like the famous local HK pastry "wife biscuit" or "wanton noodles" were never mentioned which seems rather tragic.
Also, the nightlife suggested by the book was also so-so........ Instead i got to know about the hottest club (Club Beijing) from a local hairdresser doing my hair. The book also failed to mention that there was a hot bar right above Hotel LKF with fantastic view + the people tend to be dressier on Saturday than Friday!

Overall, i felt the book was average. Buy if you want to read to orientate yourself. The places to go are accurate enough but the eating and entertainment sections are below expectation.

loney planet HK and Macau3
I have found previous lonely planet guide books to be fantastic. Although the information, tips and accommodation reviews were up to the usual high lonely planet standard, I felt the maps could have been more detailed, and the public transport section developed further. I ended up using a local free map, which was much more convenient with street names, bus routes and so on. However great background reading, highly relevant information and otherwise fantastically handy to have on your person.

A Hong Kong Must Have!5
A superb book if one intends to visit Hong Kong. Clear maps, a great coverage of anything or anywhere one might want to go to in Hong Kong. And first class service by amazon.
