CLIMATE
Brussels – and Belgium – enjoys a fairly standard temperate climate, with warm, if mild, summers and cold winters, without much snow. The warmest months are usually June, July and August, the coldest December and January, when short daylight hours and weak sunlight can make the weather seem colder (and wetter) than it actually is. Rain is always a possibility, even in summer, which actually sees a greater degree of rainfall than autumn or winter. Warm days in April and May, when the light has the clarity of springtime, are especially appealing.

Customer Reviews

A reliable guide, good coverage of Brussels.4
I live in Brussels, and I use this book regularly when visitors come to stay, when planning trips with my family, and to check out sites and areas which I haven't explored already. It is infinitely better than the Insight Guide, for instance. I annotate the RG to Brussels descriptions with details of children's playgrounds, for instance, and add stars to help me remember which of the many brilliant places to visit in Brussels are the most brilliant of all. Its a handy-size guidebook too, easy to put in your pocket and read in a bar without looking too much like a tourist. It has its snooty side, of course, all the Rough Guides do, but regular readers of their books will know how to interpret their disapproval of places which sound actually quite good. But, if you plan to explore areas of Belgium outside Brussels, get an supplementary guidebook: the Brussels RG is really good only for Brussels, the day-trips section is tiny, and highly limited.

Excellent really helped to make the most of Brussels4
Good detail useful tips on restaurants, travel
language,nightlife and places to see.
It really helped to maximise what you can do
and see on short break
I have used rough guides in Brussels,
Rome and France.
I highly recommend them!

Worth reading before you go there5
This is worth reding before you visit. Belgiums are a weird lot which this guide merely hints at - be warned. If you've seen the film "In Bruge" you'll understand what I mean.
