A top ten guide itself
This was the first of the smaller format DK Eyewitness Travel series that I have bought, although I have been a fan of the larger books for several years. Inevitably it is a little less sumptuously illustrated than the larger format books, and did not offer guided walks as such, but the style is very similar. We only had a day in Copenhagen, and this book contained a background to the city and Denmark, and everything we needed to make the most of that visit. Indeed, it would keep you busy for at least a week.
The pocket size is much more convenient than its larger stable mates, but the fold-out maps are no less useful: I rather regretted having invested in a separate map, which turned out to be superfluous. The "top-ten" format - a top ten highlights, each of which was then given a double page with its top ten attractions, and then lists of the top ten restaurants, bars, even "moments in history" - is perhaps a little artificial but did not seem to constrain in practice, although I accept that someone who really knows Copenhagen would be better placed than I to spot if it did. If I had one annoyance it was that there were no map references to the top ten microbreweries, one of which I might have tried to visit.
Copenhagen is, relatively speaking, a small city, but I shall try this format on our next city visit of one is available.
Great Knowledge for Your Pound Coin!!
We are planning a short break to Copenhagen and this book is perfect to take with us.
There are great tips on where to stay (any price range), recommendations of where to eat and things that are 'musts' to see and do.
All of this (including a 'streetsmart' section) and still small enough to fit in your pocket or bag!!
