Customer Reviews

It depends where you are going3
I have this book, and think it is the best of the travel books available on Denmark. However, the coverage of the country is not particularly consistent. I definately would not use this book to help me decide on a region to visit. The region I visited on my last holiday to Denmark does not get a mention in this book, except for the largest town there. You would be much better off visiting the Danish tourist info site. If you are going to Copenhagen, this book would be good, as there is very comprehensive coverage of the capital.

Good guidebook - reliable, easy to find information5
Lonely Planet is my guide book of choice, and this compact but useful guide to Denmark is no exception. There is plenty of information on Copenhagen and surrounding areas - I didn't travel further afield so can't comment on the rest. The information is accurate and up to date and I actually agreed with most of the reviews - not something I always do with LP authors. It's well laid out and easy to find what you need, with maps that I actually managed to use without getting lost (quite an achievement on the part of the book). As with all LP guides, it gives a good balance of comprehensive coverage, practical information, and background on history, culture etc. There's a simple language guide at the back though everyone I encountered spoke perfect English. There could perhaps be a little bit more travel info for those using public transport - though in a country where information in English is easily available this isn't a big problem. The 'greendex' at the back - which looks to be a regular feature of newer LP guides - is good for travellers trying to be more eco-friendly. My main criticism would be the lack of colour photos, but since it has everything else a traveller needs, I'd go for this over a picture-heavy, text-light book any day.
