WHEN TO VISIT Copenhagen is on exactly the same latitude as Edinburgh and Moscow, and winters, as you’d expect, are wet, windy and cold, with temperatures regularly falling below zero, though if you’re prepared to brave the weather there’s the chance to go skating on the frozen city lakes before retreating for a comforting glass of hot glogg. The city is at its prettiest in spring, when the trees come into leaf and people emerge from their layers of winter clothing. Summer weather can be variable: rain is a common occurrence, though when the sun appears the locals turns out in force, occupying every last corner of every park and pavement café, while the long summer evenings see the city at its liveliest.

Expensive but worth it!5
During three days at the beginning of May, my girlfriend and I visited Copenhagen. This was the first time that either of us had been to this city. What a place! It was extremely relaxed and the people were very friendly. It is true what they say, in that it is rather expensive. At the time of our travel there was approximately 10 Danish Kroner to the pound. This made it relatively easy to work out prices.

The guide book was invaluable, we used it to travel from the airport to Copenhagen Central station and to travel out of the city on the train to Roskilde, home of the Viking Ship Museum. The maps inside were spot on and finding your way around was easy. Nyhavn is visibly more expensive than surrounding areas. E.g One bar charged 5 Kroner for a beer. I have to admit though, that didn't stop us on our first night. Also the price of entering the world famous Tivoli Gardens was 75 Kroner (approx £7.50). This was so we could see the rock show that is put on every friday at 10pm.

The information regarding markets on Saturdays was excellent. We spent an enjoyable morning traipsing around the antique market on Gammel strand. We parted with a few kroner and came away with some small but lovely pieces. There were certain stalls that you could barter on but I think on the whole it wasn't generally done.

However, expensive or not the trip was definitely worth every penny. I heartily recommend that you use this book if you are travelling to Copenhagen.

Good solid guide4
Like all rough guides, this book is very comprehensive on all aspects of Copenhagen. Copenhagen is not the cheapest city and this book will help you find the "eat all you can" buffets and also cheaper yet clean hotels. It is very text heavy which may put off those who want to get their information in easy, bite size chunks; however if you want detail and a lot of guidance, this book is very good. One thing lacking is a set of suggested routes for walking or cycling around the city - that would help plan the days better. Furthermore, the section on day trips out from the city could be beefed up a bit - if you are spending a whole day in Malmo for example, you may feel the need for more information than is in the book. But the maps are clear and you won't have too much problem learning all about the city with this at your side.

Very Handy4
I picked this up after the other amazon review was so glowing. This guide was really good. The book breaks down into different sections, the first part has the parts of the city, with maps and notes of resturants and hotels and then in the pages behind it as descriptions of the attractions in that area. It was a good size so was in my handbag the whole time, worth reading before you go to plan where you want to go and do.
