Editorial Reviews
CD Description
Issued in 2007, BIG LOVE IN A SMALL TOWN marks the debut ofcountry singer Sarah Johns. Like Sara Evans with a slight Gretchen Wilson-esque edge, the strong-voiced Kentucky-born performer is charming, yet subtly sassy, as best revealed on the twangy title track and her self-penned, innuendo-filled hit single "The One in the Middle".
Customer Reviews
Go on... you know you want to.
Inside us all is that secret part that loves Country Western music. With the current nouveau Western revival (Assassination of Jesse James, No Country, There Will Be Blood, Seraphim Falls, etc) this is the perfect time to indulge. Sarah Johns' songs are toe-tapping, finger-clicking, voice-twanging sassy fun. I especially like 'If You Could Hold Your Women Like You Hold Your Whiskey', 'The One in the Middle', and 'Muddy Waters', a great gospel track. But my favourite is the bouncy 'He Hates Me' with sly lyrics like 'We could be honeymooning south of the border, if he'd just drop that restraining order...' This will cheer you up on a cold, dark winter night.
