A Good Day from a Great Talent
I do not consider myself to be an impulsive buyer, but having just returned from a concert in which Priscilla Ahn was the support act, I had to log on and find myself a copy of this album. Ahn performed several tracks from this collection, which simply cry out for the attention of the listener. The clarity of her voice is remarkable and the pitch is utterly enchanting, the most striking I have heard in a long time. Ahn lends originality to her guitar based tunes, by pre-recording harmonies of her own voice, to accompany her singing or harmonica playing. The songs themselves are simple, but form a charming collection of tales drawn from the artist's experiences. If you enjoy relaxing contemporary folk music "A Good Day" is highly recommended.
Breathtaking
This has got to be one of the most beautifully crafted albums released this side of the new millenium. When I first heard her debut single 'Dream' on Radio 2, I was hooked. The tone of her voice and the lyrical content blew me away!
"Long walks in the dark,
In woods grown behind the park
I asked God who I'm supposed to be?
The stars smiled down on me
God answered in silent reverie
I said a prayer and fell asleep
I had a dream..."
Beautiful - you have to have this album in your collection!!
Enchanting
This is a really good album. Like the 2 previous reviewers, I was lucky enough to catch Priscilla Ahn as the support act for Ray Lamontagne at the Birmingham Symphony Hall.
For me this is an essential music purchase.
