WINNER of huge critical acclaim: Winner of the 'Best UK Chef Book' and Winner of the Silver Award for 'Best Chef Book in World 2009' at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. The book has also won 3 major Awards for the Book Design at The 'D&AD' in London, 'The Art Directors Club' in New York, & 'Fedrigoni' in Italy. Michelin Star chef Andrew Pern's award-winning culinary autobiography strikes the perfect balance between showcasing many of Andrew's mouth-watering dishes and the heart-warming account of his fascinating life around food. Its much more than a cookery book, it tells Andrew's story, delves deep into his philosophy on food, introduces you to his local suppliers and provides a captivating and humorous insight into the life of a family that run a successful British food institution. The recipes come divided into sections that reflect the menu as opposed to the ingredients and give you all the knowledge to recreate some of the UK's best loved dishes. Editorial Reviews

Review
'It really is a life's work, a mixture of autobiography and a great reflection of the very best that Yorkshire has to offer the world of gastronomy' --Michel Roux

'This is a must-have coffee table book which not only looks good with the chocolate brown suede cover, is also great to cook from. Andrew Pern is one of Britain's leading chefs. He has held a Michelin Star for the past 7 years at The Star Inn in North Yorkshire. Not all great chefs can also write, but this one can! The book reads like a conversation curled up by the log fire; full of warmth, humour and humility and inspirational recipes. Like his cooking, the book is set to be a classic in its own right and one to enjoy for a long time to come' --Elaine M Lemm, Member of the Guild of Food Writers & food writer for the New York Times

'The luxurious suede cover with embossed text gives way to matt pages and a series of stunning photographs both in black and white and colour by award winning photographers Antonio Olmos and Sam Bailey. There is nothing glossy about this book, it is just a rich reflection on the life and food of one of Britain's best known chefs' --Masterchefs Magazine

About the Author
Andrew Pern is head chef and owner of The Star Inn at Harome, one of the first pubs in the UK to achieve Michelin star status, and retain the prestigious title for the last 8 years. His cooking is a take on traditional British, a style developed with spicing up old favourites adding an unusual twist to his menus. Constantly looking for new ingredients and suppliers, his use of locally sourced quality ingredients has over the years become his trademark, and made Andrew one of Britain's most respected young chefs.

A truly wonderful foody book5
Andrew Pern has created a masterpiece. He explains about his life growing up on a farm, his travels, and how he became interested in a taste for "strong" food.

Gorgeous photos of the author and his family grace throughout this book. Delicious and unique recipes are here for your testing. My favorite recipe is called "Whisky in a Jar." If you make this for your company and hand them the jar, they will see it is filled with smoke. After curiosity gets the best of them, when the person opens the jar the aroma of "flavoured smoke" fills the air. Luscious food awaits your taste buds. This is just a sampling of the brilliant recipes for your taking.

I have never seen a cookbook that shares the life of the chef with his own restaurant along with recipes. I highly recommend this book for you or for a gift. Even if you do not like cooking this book is an enjoyable read.

Inspiring5
I really enjoyed reading Andrews book . It inspired me to go and eat at The Star to see what all the fuss is about. I wasn't disappointed. The book is of excellent quality with some lovely photography and amazing recipes.

A book not only to read, you can almost taste and smell it, oh and stroke it5
WOW!!!!!
Im a collector of many cookbooks, but Black pudding and Foie gras, (not only for being some of my favorite foods) is a book that will set your heart racing from the moment you pick it up.
The book entails a great story, stunning photography, oh and most importantly some mouthwatering dishes, with ingredients that have been sourced, not only from local suppliers, but they all seem part of one very happy family, and very detailed a throughly well written book.
Not one for the shelf, it deserves pride of place in anyones kitchen, or even as a coffee table show stopper, and just have a feel of the cover, grrrrrr.
