About the Author
Born in London to an Austrian mother and Sri Lankan father, acclaimed chef Peter Kuruvita spent much of his childhood in Sri Lanka acquiring idyllic memories of family, fun and happy hours spent in the kitchen with his grandmother. His teenage years in Australia led into a career as a chef that has taken him from Sydney to prestigious restaurants in London, the USA, Fiji, Lord Howe and Hayman Islands, Bali and back to Sydney's impressive Flying Fish Restaurant. Peter's passion for Sri Lankan cuisine is evident in Serendip's fine collection of traditional recipes drawn from his family's kitchens as well as his travels to various regions of the island nation.

Amazing!5
Finally, an easy to follow recipe book for Sri Lankan food! This book is exactly what I have been looking for in the last 10 years. I like the little tips that Peter provides along with the recipe instructions. For example there were some tips on how to select tamarind, this was excellent. All the other Sri Lankan recipe books I have, assume that one has this knowledge innately...perhaps from watching mum cooking. I wasn't even remotely interested in learning to cook from my mum in our Sri Lankan kitchen when I was growing up, so it's refreshing to see Peter's approach at writing this book. I have all the recipe books that have been published by well known Sri Lankan cooks, but from now on, Peter's book will be the one I would recommend to anyone who wishes to master the art of Sri Lankan cooking.

Great Recipes and Stories5
Love this book. The recipes are authentic and the stories and photos that retell his experiences in Sri Lanka are delightful. It is coffee table material.

Sri Lankan Memories5
Serendip is one of the most beautiful books in my possession - a feast for the eyes and a feast for the taste buds. To anyone who has lived in Sri Lanka it will bring back wonderful memories - the photographs are superb. A book highly recommended.
