They have pioneered the use of computer enhanced photographs, which combine the advantage of a photograph as an accurate record of an individual, with the artists ability to stress those features that are representative of the species. In a pocket-sized, 192 page, full-colour photographic guide you have all you need to identify all the butterflies of the UK. Those wanting more detail, or a European field guide, should supplement this with the superb Tolman & Lewington (Collins) guide.

Clear and easy to use5
A brilliant guide to the 60 or so Butterflies that inhabit Britain. It also includes the Butterflies that could possibly arrive as migrants, and shows every stage in the cycle of a Butterflies life, and has photos of the caterpillar of most species as well as their chryaslis.
It is done in the same style as 'Britain's Dragonflies' which is also a very handy guide.
These books have good clear photographs and I would highly reccomend them if you want to learn about Britain's Insects.
