Very Good!4
I currently do a lot of travelling on business and often find myself in new places for months at a time. I bought this book to get the basics (along with the Loney Planet Phrase Book).
The book is very well written and organised. I found most of the information up to date and accurate with only a 2 exceptions, which were minor.
Maps were pretty good but there were some occasions I wished the street names had been printed in Arabic or at least phonetically written. Also I would have appreciated having all the streets labelled instead of only the major ones.
Nevertheless the book was crammed with interesting facts and history and really made me feel comfortable with my "new" home for the 7 months I was there.
The price was fair.

Terrific! Vivid and reliable guide to the land of the Nile.5
I used this book when visiting Egypt in June. I followed it around Cairo and also when I took a cruise on the Nile between Luxor and Aswan. It was comprehensive, full of insights, always reliable. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Excellent5
I found this an excellent guide, written with a sure sense of history and a true feeling for Egypt and its people. Though the title mentions Cairo, Luxor and Aswan, it covers fascinating excursions too, for example sailing across Lake Nasser to the little visited temples of Nubia, bringing you finally to the stupendous temples of Abu Simbel. Highly recommended.
