Manufacturer's Description
Vivitar has packed a focus-free, motorized, point & shoot camera into a watertight outer shell that can be submerged to depths of 25m (82 feet). Seaside explorers and snorkelers can enjoy their explorations with greater freedom, and return with fantastic photos.
The Amphibia is comprised of two main components: the camera, and the watertight housing. The camera is a focus-free point & shoot with auto flash, red-eye reduction, & motorized film advance & rewind. Take it out of the outer shell when you simply want a handy general use camera.
The outer hard shell case features a locking dial on the door so that it cannot be opened by accident. Rubber gaskets ensure a watertight seal. The shutter button can be locked and the flash disabled without opening the case.
If you spend time in or around the water, this is your practical, affordable camera solution.

Customer Reviews
suprisingly good results
The camera gives suprisingly good results for a fixed focus, fixed exposure unit. The lens is much better than those in single use cameras and I reckon that after 4 films you are in profit.
You need to take care over the choice of film speed and limit yourself to appropriate conditions.
A word of warning - the flash only works when a film is loaded!
NOT as advertised
Potential purchasers should be aware that this does NOT include the advertised Macro lens (which can be critical in an underwater environment) - I have had to return 2 of these to Amazon before they admitted it was not an isolated problem. I have asked Amazon to update the listing so that other potential purchasers are not misled, but they haven't done anything about it so it clearly isn't important enough to ensure that their advertising is correct.
FUN!
Get cool with it: it's a plastic camera. It's a plastic film camera. It's a point&shot plastic film camera. To make it work you need two AA batteries (better rechargeable) and a 35mm film. That said it's great fun to take it around. The waterproof case is actually waterproof and the whole thing floats. So you don't have to worry about water or dropping it down and seeing it disappear in the deep blue.
With a normal 200iso film colors are bright and clear, the lenses are not that bad. The flash is powerful enough to shot underwater. Don't expect only flawless images, but if you understand how it works it will give you more that you can expect.
Plus it's colorful and nice shaped!
