Pulse
This is quite possibly the greatest rock CD out there. I have always been a fan of the British Rock from the 70s and 80s, with my 2 favourite bands being Pink Floyd and Dire Straits. What Alchemy is to Dire Straits, Pulse is to Pink Floyd. 'Coming Back To Life', 'Another Brick in The Wall', and of course 'Comfortably Numb' are quite simply sensational. The album is a must have for anyone who appreciates a fantastic guitar solo, or for those who think that music is just not the same as it was.
Honestly buy this album, put it on a great stereo, and you can just sit back and be amazed. Without doubt my favourite album!
Pulse is amazing!
Just bought the 2cd Pulse album with the 2dvd concert version.
Both the album and dvd are absolutely brilliant! I listened to the album before watching the dvd but even the album alone was outstanding.
If you own this cd then go out and get the concert dvd and be prepared for the experience of Pink Floyd...live and amazing!!!
It would have been 1000% perfect if Echoes (from Meddle) was included.
Highly recommended.
Highs and Mediums
I have to disagree with the earlier comments about 'Time'. I think the reviewer must have been comparing it with the immaculate and awe-inspiring version on DSOTM which is still one of the all time classic tracks ever recorded by anyone. OK the Pulse version does not quite meet the levels of perfection achieved in the studio but it is still pretty good for a 'live' version. I suppose the missing ingredient is Roger Waters, without whom Floyd are not quite the Real Floyd. My highlight is the extended Gilmour guitar work on 'Money'. My one slight disappointment is Great Gig the Sky - on which the female vocals fail to match the iconic voice of Clare Torry on the DSOTM original. All in all this album is well worth owning.
