What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Review
It's tiny, sturdy and affordable, and it sounds great. You'd be hard-pressed to find anything that comes close.

Manufacturer's Description
The world's smallest digital music player, the 1GB iPod shuffle lets you wear up to 240 songs(1) on your sleeve. Or your lapel. Or your belt. Clip on iPod shuffle and wear it as a badge of musical devotion.

One size fits all

You know what they say about good things and small packages. But when something 1.62 inches long and about half an ounce holds up to 240 songs, "good" and "small" don't quite cut it. Especially when you can listen to your music for up to 12 continuous hours.(2) In fact, iPod shuffle just may be the biggest thing in small.

Ready to wear

Clip it to your coin pocket. Clip it to your bag. No matter where you clip your skip-free iPod shuffle, you'll have instant access to music. And iPod shuffle's anodized aluminum enclosure goes with absolutely everything. Put it on, turn it up, and turn some heads.

Sync to fit

The first step to wearing 240 songs on your iPod shuffle is downloading iTunes — free. Then you can download songs from the iTunes Store or import music from your CDs. When it's time to sync, plug the included dock into your Mac or PC's USB port and transfer your music from iTunes just by docking iPod shuffle.

Remix and match

Got more than 240 songs in your iTunes library? No problem. Let iTunes autofill your iPod shuffle and get a new musical experience every time. Pop follows jazz. Rock follows rap. iPod shuffle loves to improvise. Take the Shuffle switch, for instance. Even if you've synced a particular playlist, you can shuffle songs with a flick.

1. 1GB = 1 billion bytes; actual formatted capacity less. Song capacity is based on 4 minutes per song and 128-Kbps AAC encoding; actual capacity varies by content.
2. Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles. Battery life and number of charge cycles vary by use and settings. See www.apple.com/batteries for more information.

    Just bought my 2nd one4
BRILLIANT. Nothing comes close to this for use in the gym or for any other form of exercise. Just clip it on, turn it on and go. It is so light and easy to use with great quality sound. I would have given it 5 stars but I have just had to buy my 2nd one after under 2 years as my last one had just started to became muffled and jumped around after about 10 minutes of use in the gym clipped onto my waste band. I suppose it had had a lot of use in sweaty conditions!

    Better than a mix tape.........5
I bought the shuffle as something to listen to when out and about or when things get too noisy at work to concentrate. I have never owned an MP3 player before and was immediately impressed by how compact this thing is. Sound quality is good, maybe the highs could be more crisp and the bass a bit clearer but we're talking just over thirty quid here so I won't quibble. It has plenty of volume and I have so far filled it with around 6 hours of music and it is just over one third full. The itunes software works well and I don't know why people have objected to it so much in other reviews. This is not the player for those who wish to catalogue all their music on a single electronic medium, but for those of us who used to make "mix tapes" when we were kids then this thing is outstanding in terms of quality, utility and value for money.

Fantastic and unbeatable value for money5
Why some people choose to dismiss this player or moan about it's lack of features is beyond me! It's simply brilliant! I use mine purely for the gym, so where else could you expect to get 250 tunes on an mp3 player which is lightweight can clip on your pocket and not even know it's there and not have to worry about breaking it? I used to take my 30gig ipod with me to the gym and after it falling off the equipment so many times and bearing in mind it usually fell onto something made of cast metal, not ideal really when you have a screen to break! So the fact that it doesn't have a screen is a bonus for me cos it's less to worry about and why are you ever likely to want more than 100 let alone 250 tunes on it when you can simply change them anytime you like on itunes. I just load them on press play finish my session at the gym turn it off and next time I turn it on it starts where I left off and you can choose the order you want them to play in itunes or press the shuffle feature if you fancy a random playlist for a change. As for those who question the sound quality, well I load less tunes on mine but at 320kbps which is cd quality and mine sounds superb, so if you are going to put tunes on it which are 128kbps or less you can only expect some deteriation in sound quality! Yes the headphones aren't exactly B&O but I don't really need to listen to 5.1 surround sound when i'm at the gym so for me they are more than adequate. I ask you where else can you get all those ingenious features for £32? Fantastic bit of kit for the right application!
