Speaking Greek supports the second edition of the bestselling beginner’s course, Reading Greek, by providing on two CDs lively new recordings of some of the ancient texts presented in the Text volume. Made by experts and accompanied by special sound effects, the tracks include readings from Homer, Herodotus, Euripides, Aristophanes and Demosthenes. There is also a new introductory track containing a talk by Professor David Langslow about the sounds of ancient Greek. An accompanying leaflet provides a summary, a description of technical terms and further reading. These new CDs will enlighten the experience of the student of ancient Greek, demonstrating that this was a living language, spoken as well as read.

New edition of Reading Greek Audio
This is the new edition of the audio for Reading Greek course. The former was in cassette formatSpeaking Greek Cassette (Reading Greek)
First of all, this cd is very recommendable to enhance the experience of learning Ancient Greek with the highly recommendable Reading Greek Course.Reading Greek: Text and Vocabulary (Reading Greek): Text and Vocabulary (Reading Greek)Reading Greek: Grammar and Exercises (Reading Greek): Grammar and Exercises (Reading Greek)An Independent Study Guide to Reading GreekI completed the course with the help of the cassette a few months ago and am now enjoying a new reading of the texts with the help of the brand-new cd.
Advatanges vs old version:
-Digital: very useful to reinforce the learning listening to Ancient Greek readings while training in the gym
-More chapter included in the readings
-Sound effects
Disadvantages
-The explanation of stress-accent vs pitch-accent was clearer in the old version
-Some speakers made a better job in the old version. I really liked the first texts read with pitch accent by a female voice, which is now missing in the new recording.
