Customer Reviews
Not bad, considering the label.
I detested Lew Stone cd from the same label (digitally enhanced, my foot! Digitally deteriorated would have been a better description).
So with trepidation I put the disc in my audio system and was not upleasantly surprised; the remastering is not ideal, but certainly not unlistenable; combined with the quite good selection of song material (particularly welcome are "Music Hath Charms", one of Hall's very best recordings and "Somewhere at Sea", with it's opening bars being a delightful musical picture of a rolling ship) it is a valuable addition to the available Hall reissues; the non-existent liner notes, recording dates etc. are a sorry omission, but can be overcome.
Three-and-a-half stars would be a better verdict, again not because of the artist, but because of the careless way of handling this kind of delightful music.
Somewhere at sea CD Henry Hall
Somewhere at sea Henry Hall CD.
I have 2 Henry Hall CD's. This one is very much a second relation and the novelty items are very creaky. If you like the virtuosity you will find it, but it is very much second division Henry Hall material,
