Consider buying if having surgery
This book is not only useful for the explanations of knee surgery and what to expect post surgery ( even if your surgeon may do things slghtly differently-the book is written by an American surgeon) but also for the Physiotherapy chapters.
This includes a chapter on land exercises but also a pool workout which was a godsend and very very useful for me.
I had surgery for an ACL repair and torn cartilage 3 months ago. My major problem was that I could not weight bear for 6 weeks on my operated knee so 3 weeks after surgery I was feeling frustrated as I had to slow down physio due to my knee becoming pianful. The pool exercises that are included in this book were my next step in my rehab...I continued my every day physio but started to include a water workout three times a week which did not only include kicking with a float but plenty of different exercises which would have been impossible for me to do on dry land.
The end result was that I had full range of motion in little time and kept a good muscular mass. So much so that hen I was able to start gym workout I managed to recuperate my muscule power very quickly and was well ahead at the three month mark.
Really consider this book if you are to undergo knee surgery,if you will be doing a lot of the physio yourself or if you are considering working in the pool during your rehab.
Lynda Huey has also written " The Complete Water Power Workout Book" which has also plenty of all- body exerises to do in the pool.
