Well laid out but with some errors.
The book itself follows in the fashion of the other new Edexcel A-level maths textbooks in being clear, concise and including a number of informative examples and challenging excersizes.
However, as with the FP1 book (Edexcel AS and A Level Modular Mathematics - Further Pure Mathematics 1) I purchased not long ago, there are some issues with the accuracy of the answers in the back of the book. One example being Question 1 of excersize 4B.
Despite this, I still think that this new S2 book is better than the previous one the schools used, which was bland and uninspiring. I just wish Edexcel would take more care rather than releasing textbooks as quickly as possible.
Mathematics S2
I am currently studying A-level at a college and after having used the old version of the S2 book (Same publisher) I will say that this is just as good as the old version. The good thing about these new books is that they come with a solution bank on a CD which is very helpful as it shows step-by-step guidance on how to solve each and every question (something that the old version did not have), and these methods are pretty much the same as my teacher's method of teaching (He never uses the CD). The objection however is that the book does not show as many difficult questions as the old version does (to show the true face of the S2 module) and slightly lacks the rawness. All that's really been done here is that there is more colour, a solution bank CD and each chapter from the old book has been divided into two chapters. Because it is difficult to get hold of the old version (since they don't make them anymore) I will recommend this book. As long as you do each and every question and finish the book once twice and a third time (without cheating by looking at the solution bank) you should get a good result.
