Customer Reviews

Depends on what you want it for, otherwsie powabyke!3
We have had one of these at work for 6 months. Unless you live on the flat, it won't do 30 miles in pedal assist, more likly a full charge will get you out and about over a 12-15 mile circuit using mostly power only. I do around 9 miles a day at work combining pedal assist and power only and even with some charge left showing on the meter, the battery is put on charge overnight to be safe.

The finish is average, but of sound structure, spoiled by a lot of heavy weld joints that looks messy!

One minor point, the one I use it appears to be stuck in pedal assist even when the off switch is chosen. this may not be a common problem and perhaps just our bike. Also like most electric bikes if the battery goes mid travel its a slog to pedal due to the weight. plus points the battery is light weight and easy to remove and charge, its a smooth ride with throttle twist and is perfectly ok if its within your budget.

I trialed the powabyke before the powacycle and have to be honest the powabyke won all round even with the heavy lead battery, it went further (two days work on one charge)and got up to 15mph quickly as its a front wheel hub. the powacycle is back wheel hub. If it wasnt for the sloppy joint work it may have been a 4 star review. if unsure, pay a little more for the powabyke range, otherwise this one is a reasonable option.

Great value from an established company5
Firstly - the frame is made of aluminium and aluminium welds are always large compared to steel. I regularly ride a 16 mile return trip and the battery shows half charge at the end. Of course the range is dependant on the terrain, the pedal input and the weight of the rider (I'm just over 80kgs which is falling with regular cycling).

I like the bike because it comes with a Lithium battery (modern technology) and great accessories like a bell which is invaluable on cycle paths and a strong rack which supports my large plastic box used on shopping runs. It also has proper mudguards which actually work and a stand. Coming from and established company it's easy to get spare parts. The last thing you want is £600 worth of e-bike that you can't use because some minor component has failed and you can't get a new one.

The red switch isn't meant to switch off pedal assist. It actually switches on the ability to use electric drive only. In electric only performance is very gentle but the bike is clearly marketed as electrically assisted and that's what it is. To ride it's like having someone gently pushing you along. Especially nice on hills and in a crosswind.

All round the bike has exceeded my expectations and I am very pleased with it.
