Ideal Urban Transport & Green !!!5
Good solid machine, really great against the seaside winds and if you live on a hillside. Good gear ratios, great for commuting to work and considerably cheaper than a second car or scooter/motorbike. No insurance or tax worries, but be sure you buy a good strong chain & lock these will be like gold dust with the petrol price increases!! These electric bikes are revolutionary.

    Honest review of this bike4
I did have some problems getting this bike as the first one which arrived was faulty as the battery just died almost immeditely. On reordering there was a mix up and two replacements arrived a couple of days apart and on returning there was a mistake again and I had to chase up my return postage as it was thought that I had just returned it with no agreement.

However the bike I do have now is a good little runner and does just what I wanted, it was also the best price around after much research. I find it invaluable as it takes the effort out of cysling while stilla llowing me to exercize but not so much that I am reluctant to use the bike so basicly i do use it and it doesnt just sit in the garage as an ordinary bike would. I used to dread hills well with this I dont care it just carries me up effortlessly and I dont have to even pedal if I am feeling lazy. It is early days yet so I am not sure what the battery life is like in the long runs but so far it has never let me down.
    A few observations:
1)the indicator light on the handlebar which is supposed to show how your battery is doing for charge does not change at all no matter if it is full or empty so you are blind as far as knowing if it might die on you, this is a very common fault on these bikes but at this price not enough to put me off.
2)the twist grip on the handlebar is quite stiff and if you had any wrist problems I think you would struggle as I find on a longer run my wrist really aches afterwards, gloves help with this and perhaps it will loosen with longer term use.
3)going around corners at speed is something to do with caution to start with, the bike is off balanced due to the motor being on one side of the back wheel so if you are bombing along and turn a little too fast you could easily end up on the floor, it takes a little getting used to especially if you are used to a standard cycle which is carefully central balanced.
    4) The removable battery is extremely heavy so if you are thinkin gof popping into town and taking the battery off to take with you so it doesnt get stolen forget it. The seat is detatchable too so very stealable so get insurance and a non detatchable seat which will stop the removal of the battery too.
5)The bike is quite heavy to manouvre when stopped a bit like a mini moped which I hadnt expected.

All this said this is a brilliant little run around and having got used to it I am very pleased I bought it and would do so again. It is very cheep to run about 8p a week or something silly like that and you really can whizz along very quickly. It feels powerful and I think it would handle a big heavy person quite easily.
you do have to put it together on arrival but this wasnt too difficult once I got the hang of it.
I do think that it will be a good buy as the batteries can be replaced when they do eventually give up the ghost and with fuel prices as they are the resale value will stay high, so what have you got to lose!

i recently bought a meerkat electric bike for my wife for valentine,s day. The bike works very well but we were a bit upset as when i opened the box the front wheel which was by the side of the frame had scratched the paint on the frame near the pedal,s. Also the charger starts to flash from red to green when nearly charged. But apart from that the bike works very well and my wife is very pleased. Nigel R.
