An OK way to learn....but...3
As a guitar teacher you'd expect me to say this isn't really the way to learn. But in fact of course it is one of the ways to learn; along with self teach books, CDs, DVDs, lessons at school, and one-on-one teaching from a guitar teacher like me. However, I've never really come across someone who's done much with learning from a computer program - maybe it's difficult to work a keyboard AND play the guitar. And I never get to see people who've learnt much from books alone either.

I'd match this computer program up with a DVD because you feel you can see and hear everything in a complimentary medium to the PC - watch and learn. The best of these in my opinion is the Mel Bay Flatpicking Guitar Book from Steve Kaufman. You get a Book, CD and a DVD. And flatpicking will get you playing something that sounds nice instead of strummy chords and Twinkle Twinkle. Mel Bay's Complete Flatpicking Guitar Book [With CDWith DVD]

If you twin up the book and this software package you should cover all the bases and progress quite nicely. But I have a feeling you'll be calling a teacher somewhere down the line. The important thing is to start playing an instrument and have fun.

I have found this fairly easy software to use, though there is quit a bit I don't understand yet as I'm only a biginner. But it's quite a good package. I've learnt 6 songs with it so far in only a few months. though I still need the printouts to work from yet.

I have quite enjoyed it so far. so from my point of view its good for a beginner.
