CSS in easy steps instructs you how to create exciting web pages using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). It contains separate chapters on all features of modern style sheets. This popular title is updated for Web 2.0 and includes examples and browser screenshots that illustrate each aspect of CSS.
CSS in easy steps begins with a brief history of web page design then explains how style sheets can determine the presentation of elements within HTML documents. Examples show how CSS rules control the appearance of text, content boxes, lists, tables, backgrounds, and how they can create dynamic effects. You will learn how to position web page content with absolute precision and how to use relative positioning so web pages can look great in any browser. Each chapter builds your knowledge of style sheets. By the end of this book you will have gained a sound understanding of CSS and be able to create your own exciting interactive web pages.
CSS in easy steps has an easy-to-follow style that will appeal to anyone who wants to begin creating stylish web pages. It will appeal to programmers who want to quickly learn the latest style sheet techniques, and to the student who is studying website design at school or college, and to those seeking a career in web development that need a thorough understanding of CSS.

Taking your basic HTML to the next level
I decided a couple of weeks ago to create my own website, so a bought Mike McGrath's books HTML In Easy Steps and found it very simple to follow. Within a short time I went from knowing no HTML to being able to create set of reasonable, if basic, WebPages.
A friend recommended I improve my page design by using CSS and as I found HTML In Easy Steps so good I decided to buy CSS In Easy Steps.
CSS In Easy Steps is a must buy for anyone who has grasped the basics of HTML and wants to be more creative with their page design. The book is well laid out and provides more then enough detail for even beginners to create very good looking pages. I will say the book doesn't provide all the answers and some trial and error will be required to get the page layout exactly as you want but that just add to the fun of creating a Website.
Overall I recommend this book to take your basic HTML knowledge to the next level.
Very poor indeed
I bought this off line since it seemed a nice and easy and not to heavy. The trouble is that although this is the visual appearance when it comes down to it it just does not give you the introduction knowledge and background that is needed.
I tried getting in to it a few times but each time css seemed harder to me that I had thought it was going to be. In the end after reading reviews by others I bought css the missing manual from Amazon and suddenly I had a book that explained it all to me. Although css the missing manual is a far weightier tomb it does what it sets out to do which is explain css and the size of the book is probably needed to do this well.
A great kick start
Really good really simple. Doesn't cover every thing but really good basics and much more approachable than many other books. I recommend this one as I would all the 'in easy steps'.
