What a fantastic product.................
Having bought this when first released i was a little unsure about what to expect but having no music system in my car and no hands free kit it seemed the obvious solution to kill 2 birds with one stone.
Installation would not attempt it myself but i am told it is quite easy.
Ok, fully installed and now the test. Thought i would try the music at first and most impressed. We have a fully functional radio along with the hidden CD slot which plays anything including my MP3 collection, fantastic.
Then paired my Nokia N70 and once done you never have to repeat it. As soon as i turn on the ignition they pair automatically within seconds. The bright colour displays shows your signal and battery strength. Incoming call automatically mutes your music and comes as loud as you want through your speakers. You can also make outgoing calls through the keypad or by voice calling. The sound quality of in/out calls is astounding.
All in all i now have a Radio/CD/Mp3 Player and a Bluetooth Car Kit.
My honest advice.....Get yourself one now!
quirky minimalist french design, that works well
Straight out of the box the first thing i noticed was the solid all metal construction and lack of the usual flimsy plastic front control panel, which is heavy and metal, the unit itself is also heavy and has a large heatsink across the back panel. The instructions are minimalist and assume a degree of competance when it comes to installation, which took about 20 minutes without rushing, in a vw passat, the time being taken up in dismantling the cars central console without a manual. The installation was just a matter of lining up the relevant euro plugs, mike and aerial feeds, securing the replacement cradle in the slot and switching on. The units design is very well thought out with a huge bright blue display and rows of buttons, top and bottom, with a red and green pair above and below the volume knob for making and ending calls, via the buetooth link for your cellphone. Firmware updates from the manufacturers website are loaded via a laptop computer again with bluetooth.Telephone numbers can be accessed via the keypad on the right hand side, which also cues up cd/mp3 tracks, there are no bells and whistles, apart from voice recognition dialling and phone calls made via the remote microphone supplied, yet the money seems to have been spent on solid engineering, simple layout, and top spec sound reproduction, the 35 watt amp gives a very clear solid sound. Not a cheap item but worth the money compared to the Halfords specials which start off looking reasonable until you add on the cost of the various wiring adaptors which are costly extras and an overpriced top up .A Quality item, whose origins appear more German than French, which works well, recommended!
Hands-free phone transmission quality - this is what you're looking for.
I previously bought another make of bluetooth radio and was really disappointed in the phone transmission quality, even when used with a separate microphone. Unless I was almost stationery, people couldn't make out what I was saying. Assuming this poor quality was a feature of all bluetooth radios of a similar price, I was ready to revert to the cumbersome headset once again. Then I read review of Parrot's offering, Rhythm n' Blue.
When I read that this was their first release of a bluetooth car radio, I was sceptical. Then I checked out the company's other products and found they had a pretty good reputation in GPS and bluetooth car kits. The reviews looked good. I found a good deal on eBay for a new Rhythm n' Blue radio and bought it.
Installation was easy and so was set-up. Tuner and CD audio quality sounded great, display and regional tuner preferences easy to play with. Bluetooth phone pairing was automatic and quick. Rhythm n' Blue immediately synchronised all my phone's telephone numbers to its own internal memory. So far, so good. By this time the radio was actually talking to me and offering me the first letters of my phone book entries as I turned the dial on its front panel. Quite impressive.
Since then, 3 months ago, I've been really pleased with this product. The phone transmit/receive quality is superb, even with motorway driving. Well worth ditching my previous bluetooth radio. Other features I prefer include a dimmable display, a phone keypad on the radio and an uncluttered front panel. Some folks may also find the remote control pad useful, although I've never used it.
If I were to suggest an improvement, it would simply be that the face-off mechanism was less fiddly. Takes a little getting used to.
Otherwise, this thing is perfect!
