Product Description

Have you ever stood beneath a majestic 300 year old oak tree and thought, this tree lived before I was born, and will be alive long after I'm dead? Have you ever wondered about such a tree might have witnessed during its long life, and thought, if only it could talk? This is the story of an oak tree, from birth to death. Using the tree as our witness, we see many small moments in history - moments that rippled outward to affect the world. Intimate family moments and tragedies all take place under the oak's shade. But the tree is more than a witness, it is connected to all the life around it. It, too, has its tragedies, its suffering, and times of renewal. After reading this, you won't think the same way about trees again.

Editorial Reviews

Julian de Burgh, editor of Your Destiny
Her ability to step beyond what we see and tell an amazing tale that reflects life in its very essence is wonderful. I highly recommend 'The Tree That Talked'; it is a great read.

Mary Bryce, editor of Chat, it's fate
An oak tree as witness. This could be a metaphor for Jenny Smedley herself with her amazing ability to unlock the mysteries of past lives. She is also a powerful storyteller and The Tree that Talked will move you in ways you wouldn't think possible.

Jamie Kiffel, Editor of Woman's World, USA
Jenny's deep sensitivity instils her writing with a poetic kind of seeing. This is rooted in both her wisdom and in her uncanny ability to see into souls and illuminate what is great in them

Never Before5
Like everyone else on the planet I've looked at big old trees and wondered what they might say if they could talk. In this book I got a good idea! A seamless story, spellbinding and spiritual. I learned so much about trees and a lot about the human race. I would love to have met this tree and hugged it!
As well as being a tangled tale of reincarnation as well as the story of a tree, it's also a murder mystery! Something there for everyone.

story telling... a spiritual messenger4
Excerpt from full review in Light Magazine

The tree that talked is written in a highly descriptive and poetical style. Right from the magnificent oak tree featured on the cover of the book, it appeals to the reader's ability to visualise the details offered within the story as it unfolds.

The focus is centred on the circle of life, death and re-birth, with the tree as the `witness' - perhaps a metaphor for consciousness itself.

The story touches on ancient beliefs and spirituality, moving from druids through Christianity and full circle back to a modern day urban shaman and healer. It echoes human fascination with `past lives' `rituals' and `rites' and places the tree at the root of it all... perhaps as a bridge into other dimensions.
