This funny and charming book opens the door to many possibilities of the garden shed - just about the last male bastion left in the modern household. It is packed with 101 tasks, tools, simple projects, and ideas of all sorts for having hours of uninterrupted fun. Whether you want to rediscover the lost art of 'make do and mend', create some useful knick-knacks, explore model-making opportunities from little yachts made from matchsticks, wooden toy tractors, or exquisite toothbrush stands, dabble with some simple experiments with optical illusions, static electricity, vibrating glasses or just enjoy a spot of peace and quiet with the radio and a glass of beer, this book is a treasure trove of great ideas. Beautifully illustrated with good old fashioned line drawings and brimming with bright ideas to keep men entertained for hours, it is set to become a cult classic. Welcome to the sanctuary of the shed!

Editorial Reviews
From the Publisher
A beautifully packaged gift book for boys of all ages celebrating the lost world of the shed
About the Author
Rob Beattie remembers only too well his dad's shed (actually it was a garage, but it was a shed in spirit) and the many wonders that came out of it. From a fishing rod made of bamboo to a curious shoulder-high partition-cum-knick-knack holder, he learnt all the crafts that are essential for making the most of your shed. He is a journalist who writes about technology and music and has written for The Sunday Times, Mail on Sunday, Observer and Easy PC. He lives in Brighton with a great shed at the bottom of the garden.
Customer Reviews
Fab pressie for a newly retired Dad!
This book was a fab pressie for a newly retired Dad! Though I think I should have censored a few of the more dangerous bits according to a bemused Mum! Great fun for the little kid left in a Grandad, just dont let him show the granchildren too many little tricks!

Father & Son
This book contains great things for me and my boy to do together when he gets older, hes only 12 weeks old so I've got plenty of time to practice and make myself look really good when it comes to showing him 'How it's done'!
Great buy
