Both a help and a hindrance ...
This book looked like it was just what we needed for our trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway and to a certain extent it's pretty helpful, giving you an idea of what you can see and do en route. The only problem is that much of the fine detail is just plain wrong. The maps had the first two places we stayed at in the wrong place (although the phone numbers were correct so we could call for directions). Then thanks to another error we ended up going on a 4 mile walk to nowhere through the woods in 90+ degree heat! Maybe we were just unlucky, but it made us mistrust the book.

Use the book to identify things to do and places to go (which it's pretty good for) but make sure you've got another source of information to check on the precise details. Good luck!
