Synopsis
Summer Heights High, written by and starring Chris Lilley (We Can Be Heroes: Finding The Australian of the Year), is the award winning Australian mockumentary series starring three of the funniest protagonists--all played by Lilley-- to hit our screens in years.

The effeminate, yet megalomaniacal, Greg Gregson--aka 'Mr G'--is the self-appointed "Director of Performing Arts", passionate about his "innovative" teaching methods and determined to write his own "Arena Spectacular". Summer Heights High is the third school in eighteen months for Jonah Takalulah, a teenager with Attention Deficit Disorder and problems with aggression. His best hope is to avoid being expelled, but he says he’s "not dumb" he’s just "choosing not to be smart at the minute." Private school exchange student Ja'mie King is struggling to cope away from her privileged background at "like, the boganist school ever."

Incredibly Funny Oz Comedy5
Like many people with many sitcoms, I simply came across this wonderful show entirely by accident. At the time nothing else was on so I thought I would give it a chance. I've honestly never laughed so much at a sitcom of this kind and after the first episode alone I was hooked. Summer Heights High is a mockumentary based around three main characters. Mr. G, Jonah Takalua and Ja'mie King. The show follows these two students and drama teacher around for a year and shows their individual experiences in the school. They are stories that don't intertwine in any way and could have been TV shows on their own, but as a bonus we're given all three stories in one show.

Jonah Takalua: This is the typical trouble causer that we have all experienced in our school days. He's a kid who, if you don't kiss up to him he'll pick on you which would help him forget about his own insecurities. He struggles to do well in class so acts out telling the teachers "Puck You". Jonah has been expelled from every school he's attended and he's ready to push the staff of Summer Heights to their wits end.

Ja'mie King: She's like every girl we all hate and that's the superficial shallow rich girl who will do anything to get what she wants. Coming from a private school and attending public school for the first time, she's first taken aback by the "povo" kids, but she soon finds friends just as shallow as her and they team together in order to try and put on a prom-like formal.

Mr. G: He's the typically camp male drama teacher who's promoted to head of the performing arts department. Drunk with power and blinded by arrogance, Mr. G is seeking to put on a play to chronicle the story of how he saved a student from a life of sex and drugs. He also wants to build a massive theatre in the school in which he can put on big budget performances.

Summer Heights High and these three characters are all played by Aussie comedian Chris Lilley. He gives each character their own spin and I found myself becoming unaware that they were all played by the same guy. I've never seen any of his previous work but I've heard that his other show "The Nominees" is just as funny. An amazing laugh a second comedy that, although people will likely compare it to the Office, there's no denying this is a million times funnier.

This is The Office in maximum overdrive.5
Sorry to compare it with The Office but for people that want a quick idea of what SHH is, then this is my view. I can't say it's better but SHH cuts more to the bone when it chooses to and seems more of a mockumentary than The Office was where as sometimes it lost the plot device. SHH's main lead plays 3 roles Mr G a camp meglomaniacal drama teacher, Jai'me a private school transfer student who is too shallow for hell and lastly Jonah the Tongan misfit who goes to a special part of the school within Summer Heights High.
SHH will connect with people as I knew people like Jonah and Jai'me and also the teachers. Everybody is amazing in this, there is not one bad actor in fact the background characters are the best I have ever seen.
The teachers are great and spot on and the kid's... man! They do not seem like they are acting at all!
Bottom Line SHH takes the mess out of life and society and is the only mockumentary that mixes comedy and drama seemlessly thus making it one of the best.
Buy this monster now.

Great Stuff!4
I watched SHH for the first time the other night on BBC3 (there were about 3 or 4 episodes after another) and was pleasantly suprised. I can see why some may liken it to the Office, but to me SHH offers more. Mr G is probably my favourite character, his super camp attitude and extreme flamboyancy turns any situation into a comical one - he manages to turn the tragic death of one of the school's pupils into a major coup for HIS drama department (i use HIS, because there is only one person in Mr G's world and that is Mr G). Jonah also is a very funny character, with a 'too cool for school' outlook and an aggressive streak that makes Wayne Rooney look like an angel. Jam'ie (or however you spell it) offers much laughter, but I found her character a little repetitive after a while and slightly annoying. Nevertheless, I'm sure many people can associate with these 3 special characters. If you get a chance, watch it! Very funny stuff.

Adios.
