Ugly never looked so good!
Lockdown is a fabulous design. Just like the cartoon designs, it oozes character and is great-looking. From a cool dangerous looking car that looks like the batmobile meets a muscle car, to a Frankenstein-looking robot that towers over the other deluxe transformers, you cannot fault the looks of this toy in context. The transformation is a little finicky in lining things up, but is just complicated enough to make it interesting. And there's a nice accessory added on. Though marked up as a Decepticon, Lockdown is a bounty hunter who works for the highest bidder. Cool stuff.

Lockdown! Everybody in the place say what now!
This new range of Transformers toys has the potential to be even more devisive than the Beast Wars era of the mid 1990s! I mean, look what they've done to the Transformers! They've turned them into stylised cartoon characters! Yes they have, and if you're dismissive of them, you're missing out. For the first time in the 20 plus year history of The Transformers toyline, we have show.accurate.figures. Just stop and think about what a big deal that is. Thats how far toy engineering has come. These figures are superb!Lovely detailing, complex Transformations - they may look simple but don't be fooled- and just beautiful designs. If you don't like this first wave, just wait 'til you get a load of Grimlock..!!!
