Predator 2 shines on Blu-Ray
This film continues an enormously successful concept, as well as film franchise. It was viewed on a 42" Panasonic Plasma and BD35 Player. The sound was above average, with a DTS enhancement. The film, while containing grain, exhibits significant sharpness, specially in shots of facial closeups. Extremely light scenes shows some grain, but the overall improvement over the DVD, makes the BD a worthwhile addition for fans.
Although Danny Glover is not quite believable in this film, he does display a certain rare courage, when it comes to taking on the Predator. I love part, when he says "You'll get your chance, we'll all get our chance", in reference to having a "rematch" with the beast, later on. The acting of the other cast is subpar, and comical at times, but this film takes its place in the ranks of classic creature features. The atmosphere is stuffy and hot throughout the film, and the effects and prowess of the predator adds to the ludcrous matching of human to monster. Not perfect, but great disc!
Great Quality
I'm a huge fan of the Predator films, the first more-so, but I was skeptical of making this my first blue-ray acquisition, because the film is more than fifteen years old. However, I was more than happy to be proved wrong, which I was. Both the visuals and the audio are exceptional, the menu screen is also slick and stylish while remaining easy to navigate. If Predator 2 isn't in your collection, then buying it on blue-ray is the way to go.
Poor transfer
Poor transfer with little detail due to constant grain filtering smoothing everything. No 1080p detail whatsoever.
