Synopsis
In a short working phase from 1918 to 1921, Alexander Rodchenko realized three series of extraordinary three-dimensional compositions. These were the non-objective sculptures of "Assembled and Disassembled", the spatial objects entitled "On the Principle of Equal Forms" and the spatial constructions or "Series of Equal Forms". "Forms do not only have a painterly, but also an almost constructional relationship with one another. The entire structure folds up like a folding chair. It stands in space (...) like a functioning organism, as a whole." - Alexander Rodchenko. This book will be accompanying the exhibition, Alexander Rodchenko: Spatial Constructions, at MAK, Vienna, 2006.
