Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
The 2007 World Cup really has been a rollercoaster ride for the England rugby team and their supporters. Branded the worst team ever to defend the trophy, England struggled against the USA, a team they expected to beat comfortably, before crashing to a humiliating 36-0 defeat at the hands of the South Africans. Even the most passionate English fan envisaged more misery to come and a quarter-final defeat at best.

Thankfully, rugby is gloriously unpredictable. Faced with two crucial knockout matches while still in the group stages, the men in white managed to negotiate their way past the physical Samoa and Tonga sides without ever looking all that convincing. Australia loomed in the next round, aching for revenge for the 2003 final and seemingly certain of victory. Except nobody told England. A mighty performance from the forwards and the ever-reliable boot of Jonny Wilkinson saw them face the hosts in a tense, highly-charged semi-final that see-sawed from one side to the other. England's early lead was overhauled by French penalties before that man Wilkinson once again came to the rescue. This is the comeback of all time and somehow, magically, bewilderingly, wonderfully, England are in the final again to face South Africa, their destroyers from the group stage. If this was a Hollywood script, you wouldn't believe it.--Alex Hinton

Video Description
They defied all logic and form. They beat the two time Champions! They beat the hosts! They shocked the world! And maybe, just maybe, they could have made history and retained the William Webb Ellis Cup.

England at the 2007 Rugby World Cup - it's one of the greatest sporting stories of all time! Has there ever been a comeback of such magnitude? Derided and dismissed - a nation in desolation after a 36 point whitewash against South Africa in the Pool stages. Brian Ashton's boys were down but most definitely not out.

Inspired once more by Jonny Wilkinson and powered by the fury of a thunderous pack the Red Rose rallied. They were too strong for Samoa and Tonga but a familiar foe was waiting for a quarter final in Marseilles - Australia! With mighty Andrew Sheridan rampant, the Aussies were destroyed and distraught. Then it was French tears in Paris. The hosts left singing Les Bleus as England's ace marksman Jonny cut them down. Nobody thought it possible. Against all the odds England was in the World Cup Final.

This DVD also contains a second disc with the entire Semi-Final between hosts France and England. Plus exclusive interviews and behind the scenes look at England's World Cup journey.

Synopsis
All the action from the 2007 Rugby World Cup, including the dramatic semi-final in which England beat France.

Hmmm...?2
This has just been thrown together.
It's a clinical colection of 'highlights', plus the entire French semi-final.
I was looking forward to reliving the humiliation of the Aussie scrum at the hands of Sheridan etc. but this is 'almost' entirely ignored.
Shame!!

Okayish but no more2
Spent too much time and money in France during RWC and looked forward to a decent record of what I'd seen.
The DVD is OK, but little more. It's a series of highlights but importantly, it fails to capture any of the atmosphere, tension and celebration. The commentary doesn't help at all - it sounds as if it has been added some time after the event - matter-of-fact and unexcited. Contrast it with ITV - occasionally way over the top (lights going out in Paris etc etc), but some real passion and involvement
So, OK, for one viewing ditto, but an opportunity lost

Simply a match review DVD2
Being called 'Englands Story' I expected to see a 'Living with Lions' style dvd with interviews with the players, behind the scenes material just like it said on the case but all it contains is a few pre-match preview clips, with a word or two from an england player and then the tries or penalties from each match and thats it (First DVD 75min), on the second DVD (85min) it is simply the England v France match in full, which is great but we've already seen this on the TV and its hardly 'exclusive material'. For £20 I hoped for a little more and was a but gutted. You might as well buy the whole world cup 2007 review DVD for the same price
