Inspiring, will get any couch potato up and running
Everytime I pick this book up and read each persons account of their first marathon it brings tears to my eyes. Well written easy to read, containing lots of short stories, so it's easy to dip in and out of if you are a busy person. Inspiring and at times tear jerking. These are real people old, young, fat, thin mums, dads Grans, nuns, teachers etc..All with a great story to tell of why and how they came to run their first marathon and how it changed their lives forever.Quite humbling. It's enthusiasm is infectious and it's bound to inspire anyone of any age or size to get up and give running a go. A brilliant read.

Excellent motivation for your first marathon
Many of the miles I've run to train for my first marathon have been spent thinking about the people written about in this book. The individual's stories in this book are not only extremely motivational but also touching and sometimes funny. I would recommend this book for all first time marathoners as well as people looking for that extra inspiration in reaching that goal that you're not quite sure you can make.

Awesome and motivatintg. Don't run a marathon without it.
I am running the NYC Marathon in November 99 and I picked up this book for a little motivation. I read the introduction in the bookstore and started to cry. I loved it. I lost the book during a trip to California. I wasted no time in ordering another copy. I am ready to run now that I shared with all of the poeple who told their story.
