Product Description

Theo Paphitis is the outspoken and charismatic star of Dragons' Den who has turned round a string of household names, from Ryman to La Senza, in a high-profile business career that has brought him millions. Now, in his revealing and controverisal memoir, he not only takes the reader behind the scenes on Dragons' Den, he explains how he made his fortune. He also provides a masterclass in business methods that will enable anyone who reads this book to learn so much about how they too can improve their business. In the book, Theo recalls how his family moved to England from Cyprus and how as a poor immigrant, he took whatever jobs he could, starting as a tea boy for Lloyd's. There he began to take the first steps on a career that would net him a fortune. He reveals the methods that took him to the top, and also provides some fascinating insight into the national game from his spell as chairman of Millwall FC. But, above all, this is a book that will provide all readers with the opportunity to learn from one of the nation's most successful businessmen and put his ideas into practice.

Rags to riches5
The classic rags to riches story. Very down to earth. A really good read. The 12 rules for success at the end is a nice touch.

Not what I expected3
I don't think you can "transform your life" by reading this book. Theo's life evolved and was not necessarily planned to create greatness. He's a good sales guy who fell into opportunities. I found the anecdotes interesting at times, but other times he just rambled on and on about football. Perhaps a better read for a guy. His life story is colourful. But it's like reading a memoir whereas I wanted to read a business book with lots of business advice. That's what I'd expect from an entrepreneur who's been doing Dragon's Den for 5 seasons. His tale could have been better woven as a biography as opposed to an autobiography. The book is tailored to the masses so don't expect to be wowed by the writing. You won't gain any intellectual development from reading this book.

As a business person I enjoyed chapter 13 the most for the thought processes in reviving a business. I also liked chapter 21: business rules for the average joe. The rest of the book touted his family and business networking situations. Of course networking is an important business skill but I wasn't interested in reading all about it. And he doesn't give detail on Dragon's Den until the very end of the book. This could be a nice gift for a guy who likes to read but I'm looking forward to giving my copy away.

Outstanding, interesting, informative, gripping, a great story and lots of lessons. Worth every penny.

In fact its so good I'd have paid double the price. Paphitis has missed a trick....he could have made much more money than he has from this book.
