Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
Most two to three-year-old children enjoy counting books and here is one they will love. This jolly book with bright bold illustrations features a whole host of animals who all help mother hen find her lost chicks. Inevitably this means there is plenty of opportunity for animal noises as well as counting chicks making this book all the more fun to read. The farmyard search is presided over by wise old owl who counts the chicks on her wing feathers as they appear one by one. When she reaches eight, mother hen remembers that she only had four chicks to begin with and at the same time a cry of "I've lost my goslings goes up from Mother Goose". Of course, that is the source of the extra "chicks" and in the end all the babies, chicks and goslings are restored to their mothers ... but for how long? The mischievous chicks are hiding again already! (Age 2 and over) --Alison Jardine
