Another audio adventure for sapphire and steel, those two mysterious beings who protect reality from things outside of time that try to break in.

This particular story is a little different to the usual ones in that there's no sign of sapphire when it begins. Steel arrives in a nursing home in 1949, and has to find why he's there and where sapphire is and investigate a few of the very strange people and goings on that he encounters.

The voice cast for this are absolutely superb. Mostly elderly actors they are a delight to listen to, especially daphne oxenford, who was the original voice of the radio show listen with mother, many many years ago.

As a sapphire and steel story it's very intriguing, and thus I won't give away too much about the plot. David warner's typically superb performance and the writing bring out a few interesting things about the character of steel.

You will have to work at the plot of this one as there's some complicated stuff going on, and it does tie in with earlier audios and the tv series, so you may get more out of it by being familiar with those. But all in all, it's an excellent listen, thanks to the wonderful voices of the wonderful cast.
